I’d love to see a video or know where to find the reasons for many of these postures. I’m sure some of them are for uniformity but many more, I’m certain, have specific meaning or relevance behind them. For example, why are the there two “360 degree” turn exceptions for turning to face the people during the Oráte Fratres and the final blessing?

I have no choice but to just suffer through the NO Mass. 🥲 No TLM is available in our area.😢😢😢😢 I am having a hard time persevering.

This is the exact same liturgy the Western Orthodox use except English is used.

I served as an altar boy at the St. Francis Xavier Church, Golla, Dhaka East Pakistan (Bangladesh) 1958-65. Did memorize the Latin prayers. Ad deum qui laetificat juventutem meam. Felt confused/betrayed by Vatican II. Some reforms OK. But others went too far. Almost Nihil.

I really wish we shepherds who gave everyone the option of Latin Masses, and made them readily available. I gaurentee they would be standing room only, while novus ordo's would fizzle out.

So beautiful to see the reverence and care in every movement, posture and gesture in handling the blessend sacrament and the chalice. The holding of the fingers together to prevent the possiblity of even the tiniest particle from falling shows the true belief in the real presence. Unfortunately, I have yet to encounter a single priest or bishop in the N.O. take that kind of care. As much as I love Cardinal Burke, I've seen him celebrate the Ordinary Form and although still reverent, he doesn't hold his two fingers together after the consecration like he would have to in the Traditional Mass. You would think that aspect of the liturgy would carry over as I know he is a firm believer in the Real Presence. We really need to get back to the liturgy as a sacrifice with reverence given to God. It pains me when I see Lutheran and Episcopalian liturgies celebrating their so called "mass" ad orientem on a high altar with communion at the communion rails, chalice veils, and beautiful music. I do not understand why every bishop just laid down instead of protesting the changes to the mass. Why did every Sacrament have to be revised? What was missing from the original formulas? Everything was reduced so that now today, especially in the sacraments of Holy Orders, there are those that doubt that the priests and bishops of today are actually true Catholic bishops.

The traditional Latin Mass is a very beautiful ritual but I have always wondered how and why the lavish vestments developed through the ages. I have been able to explain to my friends the how and why the cathedrals and churches sport so much art (to tell the Biblical stories to an illiterate population of grindingly poor people) but have a more difficult time with explaining the oppulence (and obvious expense) of the garb.

Where did all these go? We need them back. The present Catholicism is diluted .

The regular English mass I attend is known as the Novus Ordo. But sometimes I think the Novus Ordo mass is too modern and too liberal. But I'm hoping to find a Traditional Latin mass in the state of CT.

We are blessed to have three of these tireless Men of God in our parish. The youngest is one of the finest homilists I have heard. Fathers Van Vliet, Rock and Alloy are treasures of the Church.

There is nothing inherently irreverent or unsolemn about the Novus Ordo. It comes down to the individual celebrant and the congregation. I must admit though that the Novus Ordo can be more easily “abused” or “watered down” than the Old Rites. With the proper chants or hymns (either in Latin or vernacular) accompanied by a good organist, an actively participating congregation, and a diligent celebrant, the Novus Ordo (either celebrated in Latin or Vernacular), is as profound. We need more liturgical catechesis. With a proper liturgical catechesis, both sides of the debate will realize that the mass, in either rites, is the true sacrifice of the body and blood, soul and divinity of Christ to the Father and will participate actively.

I am finding this video interesting in terms of each movement/action that is taken, however after every sentence I find myself asking, why? What I really want/need to know, to fully understand and immerse myself in this mass are all the deeper meanings and reasons behind every such precise action, placing, gatment, setting or movement. I am wanting to love this mass but without this deeper information (which I am struggling to find in full, despite lots of searching and finding only bits and pieces of this info here and there, dotted about) I find myself left wondering about the why of all of these things and sadly seeing it as all rather fussy and superfluous. I know that there must be much deeper meanings and reasons for every single bit of this Mass but it all seems so hidden and nobody seems willing to actually go into detail on ALL of it, to give a full, thorough understanding.
